The Palawan Striped-babbler Quest

We recently visited the remote mountains of Southern Palawan in search of the little known and rarely seen Palawan Striped-babbler. The massive Mount Mantalingajan near Brooke’s Point was the starting point for this expedition. A long, steep walk with our local porters from the small village of Mainit took us up to 900 meters above sea level in the middle of the forest. This was where we pitched up our camps for the night. The next day another steep climb along small trails took us to an altitude of 1200 meters where we found the Palawan Striped-babblers. We had very close and prolonged views of the birds which were commonly seen in the area.
